- The NAACP of Fairfax County demanded an autonomous investigation into the death of Timothy Johnson by Fairfax County law enforcement officials on Wednesday. The group also urged the authorities to promptly publish the footage of the police's body-worn cameras during the deadly conflict with Johnson, who resided in Washington, D.C., and the identities of the policemen involved. Johnson, a 37-year-old African American, was killed by two Fairfax County policemen after allegedly stealing sunglasses from the Nordstrom store at Tysons Corner Center. (Patch)
- A school board member in Virginia, Abrar Omeish, is known for her left-wing views and has been at the center of controversy over public school education policies. Recently, during a school board meeting, she referred to the Battle of Iwo Jima as "unfortunate" and "evil" while discussing the Day of Remembrance for Japanese-American internment victims. This sparked further outrage among parents in the area. (Fox News)
- On Mar. 3, the Board of Supervisors Legislative Committee will convene at 4 p.m. at the Fairfax County Government Center's Conference Room 11. The meeting can be watched on Channel 16 or streamed online with closed captions in English and Spanish, and will also be available on demand after the meeting.
