Springfield Days: Fun For Foodies, Car Enthusiasts And More

Going away for Memorial Day? No worries: Springfield Days will be going on the following week.

SPRINGFIELD, VA—If you want to start off the summer with tons of family fun, enjoy your Memorial Day weekend out of town and come back the next week for a community-wide festival in Springfield.

Springfield Days will be held June 2-3 at various locations around Springfield. So whether you want to compete in a car show or cardboat boat race, go shopping or simply eat our heart out, there's something for you during this fun-filled weekend.

Saturday, June 2

5K & Fun Run: Join Moms Run This Town and Metro Run & Walk for this 5K and one mile fun run at 8:30 a.m. There are no registration fees or prizes—just fun! Hang out at Metro Run & Walk afterwards for refreshments. Participants can purchase a 'Run Springfield' shirt race morning for only $5. Dogs are welcome. Race starts and finishes at Metro Run & Walk, 7261 Commerce Street, Springfield.

Car Show: Come out to the American Legion Post 176 for the The Springfield Days Car Show from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.. See all kinds of makes and models including antiques, classics street rods, muscle cars, customs and exotics. Multiple trophies for different classes will be awarded. Come at 8 a.m. to register your car. 6520 Amherst Avenue.

Craft & Fun Fair: Browse through crafts and vendors and enjoy kids activities including free games, entertainment, DJ and lots of fun from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Springfield United Methodist Church parking lot. Homeward Trails Rescue will be the Fair 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The Craft & Fun Fair is sponsored by Burke & Herbert Bank. Overflow parking is available in the commuter lot next door. 7047 Old Keene Mill Road.

Friends Book Sale: Check out thousands of new and used books for kids and adults from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at Richard Byrd Library. Most prices are $1-$2 or less. Book sale proceeds support the Friends of Richard Byrd Library, its children’s programs, periodicals and more. 7250 Commerce Street.

Taste of Springfield: Eat your way through Springfield area restaurants at this second annual festival at Springfield Town Center from noon-6 p.m. At least 15 restaurants have been confirmed from Springfield and around the region. Attendance is free, and and $1 tasting tickets are available online and at the event. Other activities will be live musical performances, vendors and other entertainment. The event will be held in the parking lot along Frontier Drive, outside Saks Off Fifth and Nordstrom Rack. 6500 Springfield Mall.

Sunday, June 3

Cardboard Boat Regatta: Race your own cardboard boat or spend the day at Lake Accotink Park and watch as determined captains and their crews try to keep their boats afloat. Races begin at 11 a.m. 7500 Accotink Park Road.
