Springfield Man Accused Of Raping Women: Police
The man is accused of raping the victims, at least one of which originated from a dating app.

SPRINGFIELD, VA — A Springfield man is facing charges for the alleged rape of two women last summer, according to the Fairfax County Police and Commonwealth's Attorney's office.
On Monday, a grand jury indicted Drew John Steiner, 58, of Springfield, on one count of rape, one count of forcible sodomy, one count of unlawful filming, two counts of abduction with intent to defile and two counts of object sexual penetration.
Steiner had been identified as the suspect in two sexual assault cases last summer. In July 2020, detectives were notified by one victim about a sexual assault in a home in the 8300 block of Cushing Court in the Newington area. The victim stated the suspect was a man she met online.

As detectives continued to investigate, a second victim reported a sexual assault at the same location under similar circumstances in August 2020.
Commonwealth's Attorney Steve Descano said in a statement at least one incident involved the victim meeting the victim through a dating application and being filmed without her consent.

"My top priority is to keep our community safe," said Descano. "I will therefore always act to hold those accountable who prey upon members of this community and I am hopeful that this indictment will serve as a first step toward justice in this case."
Steiner has been held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center since the Sept. 27, 2020 alleged assault and abduction of a relative.
The Major Crimes Bureau’s Victim Services Division of the police department were assigned to provide assistance to the victims.
Detectives ask anyone with information about the case or who may have met Steiner through a dating app to contact the Major Crimes Bureau at 703-246-7800, option 3, or submit a tip through Crime Solvers.
