Springfield Murder Trial Moved to June
Defense attorneys said they would not pursue an insanity defense.

A Springfield murder case has been moved to June, in order to give attorneys more time to prepare.
David Patton, 44, is charged with killing 48-year-old Stephen Carr in September. The murder was reported at the time as possibly being related to a previous altercation between the two men over a speed hump that Carr campaigned to have installed on Field Master Drive.
Public Defenders Robert Frank and Paul Keats requested that the case be moved to Monday, June 20, where it will go before a jury. Frank said that a report had just been received and more time was needed to prepare. Frank estimated that the case would take three days to try.

"We will not be proceeding on an insanity defense," Frank stated in court today.
Patton appeared in court as well, looking thinner and beardless compared to the photo taken of him in September.

The Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney trying the case asked that Patton waive his right to a speedy trial on the record so the case could be moved to June. Frank agreed to this request.
