Springfield Resident Scores Top Prize In Virginia Lottery Game

A stop on the way home left a Springfield man $100,000 richer, according to the Virginia Lottery.

SPRINGFIELD, VA — A Springfield man can now say he's a top prize winner after scoring $100,000 in the Virginia Lottery Cash 5 game.

"I’ve never won anything like that before!" Bill Trotti told Virginia Lottery officials.

He won the top prize by matching all five numbers in the Jan. 18 night drawing. He bought the winning ticket on his way home at the Sheetz on Canton Hill Road in Woodbridge.

The winning numbers were 5-21-23-24-29. Trotti had the luck of the draw by using random computer-generated numbers.

"I had to check the numbers several times during the day. It feels wonderful!" he said.

The odds of winning a $100,000 top prize like Trotti are 1 in 278,256. The Cash 5 drawings happen twice a day at 1:59 p.m. and 11 p.m.
