Springfield School Enters Cardboard Boat Regatta
Kings Glen SACC will compete in Sunday's Springfield Days race at Lake Accotink.
For the ninth year, students from School Age Child Care (SACC) program will compete in the Springfield Days Cardboard Boat Regatta at Lake Accotink Park.
The students have been working on the project in groups as architects, designers and racers, according to Kali Pellegrino, head SACC teacher at Kings Glen. "Our theme this year is Fun Fabulous Food, and we chose to do pizza because that's what these kids here love," she said.
On June 3, seven students will compete in their floating pizza at Lake Accotink. "We've only had two boats sink in the eight years we've been competing," said Pellegrino.
