Gunman Kills Mother, Relative In Burke Home, 2 Officers Injured
Fairfax County Police say a SWAT team found the gunman and two others dead inside the home.

BURKE, VA — A gunman and two relatives are dead after a barricade situation in Burke Monday night.
Officers were called to a home in the 6100 block of Wicklow Drive around 9:11 p.m. for reports of a domestic disturbance and shots fired. One relative had escaped the home and called for help.
When responding officers arrived, the gunman shot at them before barricading himself in the home. Two officers suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Police did not know how many people were inside until a SWAT team searched the home and found a deceased man and woman with gunshot wounds. The gunman was also found dead with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The victims were the mother and a nephew of the gunman. The man who escaped was a nephew.
Early investigations revealed the family had an ongoing dispute escalating into a shooting. Relatives fled to different parts of the home to avoid the gunman. He located the mother and nephew in different rooms and shot them, police say.

The victims were identified as Patricia Marie Bounds, 67, and Sean Patrick Bailes, 19. The gunman was identified as Marcellus William Bounds IV, 36.
The medical examiner will perform autopsies to identify the cause and manner of death.
While the barricade was active, police asked surrounding residents to evacuate the area. There is no further threat to public safety, but police continue to actively investigate. Anyone with information is asked to call the Major Crimes Bureau at 703-246-7800.
Police are expected to provide updates.
