Traffic Alert: Southbound I-95 Lane Closures Next 12 Nights

Springfield area will see up to 4 lanes close overnight next 12 days. VDOT says emergency repairs needed to Old Keene Mill bridge.

Beginning Tuesday night, crews will close up to four of six lanes on southbound I-95 under Old Keene Mill Road in the Springfield area for permanent repairs to steel beams damaged by a vehicle strike last month, according to a news release from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).

The hours for the work are:

  • Tuesday to Thursday: 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Friday and Saturday: 10 p.m. to 8 a.m.
  • Sunday: 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The work is expected to last about 12 nights from Tuesday to Saturday, Dec. 20. Crews may remove the work zone by 5 a.m. weekdays if backups are extensive.

Drivers should seek alternate routes during this work as delays are expected for those heading south onto I-95 from I-495 (Inner and Outer Loops), and from southbound I-395.
