WSHS Dance Team Competes on ‘America’s Got Talent'

Just after 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, West Springfield High School's dance team took the stage on the hit NBC television show "America's Got Talent." The team performed a routine similar to the one that won them a national title in March.

The following is Burke Patch's updates from Tuesday night's airing of the show. The results show will air Wednesday at 9 p.m. on NBC.

Update 10:41 p.m. - West Springfield High School's dance team just completed their performance on NBC's "America's Got Talent."

Piers Morgan, who tends to be the harshest critic on “America’s Got Talent,” said he was “intrigued” by West Springfield High School Dance team. He said they lived up to the potential he saw in them. “Really, really good.”

Judge Sharon Osbourne told the team, “I love all the drama." She also said, “Great choreography; I absolutely loved it.”

Judge Howie Mandel said, “You are great,” and he predicted the public would push them ahead to the semi-finals.

“It’s all thanks to our coaches,” one team member told the judges.

Update 10:36 p.m. - The West Springfield High School dance team is on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” right now!

"What we do is not like a typical high school dance team," one team member said in a pre-taped interview.

"We hope America really loves our team... but we want to scare them a little bit, too," another team member said.

The "America’s Got Talent" judges will reveal the results during tomorrow night’s show, which will air at 9 p.m. on NBC.

Update 10:14 p.m. - The University of Maryland's Gymkana is on now. Still waiting on West Springfield High School in this two-hour YouTube special.

Update 9:29 p.m. - So far tonight, "America's Got Talent" has featured a group of modern cloggers, an illusionist and a bulldog. Still waiting on our hometown dance team. Stay tuned!

Update 9:08 p.m. - Tonight’s episode of “America’s Got Talent” is a YouTube special. The show is bringing to the stage 12 groups (or solo acts) who submitted auditions through YouTube. See the WSHS Dance Team audition video.

The West Springfield High School Dance Team will appear on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” show tonight at 9 p.m.  The results program will air Wednesday night.

The dance team is no stranger to success and the spotlight: The team won their this spring in Orlando.

The highly-rated “America’s Got Talent” show is now in it’s sixth season on NBC.  Musician/actor Nick Cannon hosts, and the judges are Piers Morgan, Sharon Osbourne and Howie Mandel.

Talent slated for tonight’s show includes other dance acts, a magician, an animal act, singers, cloggers and more.
