School Security Officer Faces Assault Charge In Altercation With A Student: Report

An FCPS security officer was charged with misdemeanor assault Monday following a Dec. 13 altercation with a Stone Middle School student.

CENTREVILLE, VA — A Fairfax County Public School security officer is facing an assault charge in connection with a Dec. 13 altercation with a student at Stone Middle School in Centreville, according to a police release.

A Fairfax County Police resource officer responded around 12:30 p.m. for the report of an assault in a classroom at the middle school located at 5500 Sully Park Drive.

The officer determined Hardy argued with a student, which escalated into an assault, according to police.

During the confrontation, both Hardy and the student fell to the ground. Hardy restrained the youth and then took him out into the hallway, where he released the student, according to police.

The two returned to the classroom, where they stayed until the end of the period. Another school employee reported the incident. No injuries were reported.

Coordinating with the school administration, the school resource officer conducted several interviews. On Monday afternoon, the officer obtained a summons releasable warrant for misdemeanor assault, arrested Hardy and provided him a copy of the warrant.
