Assistance League Completes Last Food Packing Event of the School Year

Volunteers Packed 1660 Weekend Food for Kids Bags

The Assistance League of Northern Virginia recently held its final Weekend Food for Kids food packing event for the current school year. ALNV members along with Dominion Energy - Virginia employees packed 1660 bags of assorted nonperishable food that were distributed to six elementary schools in Fairfax and Prince William counties. A seventh school was provided with 70 grocery store gift cards that will be made available to families needing food assistance. This important ALNV program will continue during the three summer months providing grocery store gift cards instead of the food bags to the families at all seven schools.

ALNV is extremely grateful for Dominion Energy’s continued partnership in the WFFK program throughout the past ten plus years. Dominion’s valuable involvement makes it possible for the food bags to be delivered to the schools the same day as the packing event. In addition, ALNV is thankful for Dominion providing all volunteers with a pizza lunch following the final packing, and for the generous contributions of Dominion employees to ALNVs “Got Sneakers” campaign and toiletries for students campaign.
