Boy Scout Troop 1137 Recognizes 5 Eagle Scouts

Together since elementary school, the graduating seniors reach scouting's highest accomplishment.

Boy Scout Troop 1137 of Centreville recently celebrated the accomplishments of five Eagle Scouts: Gabe Berrick, Tommy Bolton, Diego Cobos, Patrick Kruk and Nathan Marshak. The five young men have been in scouts together since they were Cub Scouts in Pack 1862 and all earned their Eagle rank. They spent their Boy Scout years together in the Flaming Phoenix Patrol of Troop 1137. To reach the rank of Eagle, scouts earn merit badges, serve in leadership roles for their troop and organize the completion of a service project benefiting the community.

Berrick’s Eagle project involved building a path for the kiss-n-ride area at Poplar Tree Elementary. Bolton built tree identification signs and cleaned up a nature path at Izaak Walton League in Centreville for his project. Cobos’ Eagle project involved building picnic tables and refurbishing a play area for the preschool at Vienna Baptist Church. Kruk built a bridge to create better access for when the Sully Station pool hosts large swim meets for his Eagle project. Marshak built picnic tables for Cub Run Elementary, including one with wheelchair access, for his project.

Berrick, Bolton, and Marshak are 2018 graduates of Westfield High School. Cobos is a 2018 graduate of Centreville High School, and Kruk is a 2018 graduate of Freedom High School in Loudoun County.
