Centreville had the first railroad constructed for military purposes in the world, built in February 1862. Join reenactor and historian Arthur Candenquist, who will portray Confederate Captain Thomas Sharp, for a lively discourse about the building of the Centreville Military Railroad and the events surrounding it, including Jackson's famous raid in May 1861 on the B&O railroad to obtain engines for use by the Confederacy.
This is also the quarterly meeting of the Historic Centreville Society and will include the election of officers. The public is welcome and light refreshments will be served.
