Future Problem Solving Program International comes to Eye Level of Centreville
Future Problem Solving Program International (www.fpspi.org) comes to Eye Level of Centreville. Open to public (registration required).

Eye Level of Centreville begins coaching lessons in FPSPI - a competitive program to learn the six-step problem solving methods and build WRITING SKILLS. This program is open for students in Grades 2 and up.
The objective of this program is understand problem solving skills using the Six-Step Problem Solving Method designed by E. Paul Torrance and focus on the students ability to research and analyze information to WRITE informed papers. The competitive topics for 2015-2016 are:
Problem # 1: Treatment of Animals
Problem # 2: Disappearing Languages
Qualifying Problem: Recovering from Natural Disaster (for Competition Team)
Affiliate Competition: The Global Workplace

The coaching to learn the six-step process actually uses extremely simple topics to help the students understand how the process works before taking on a challenging topic from this years list.
1. The non-competitive aspect of the program (Summer Only) will start in June 15, 2015 and end in August 17, 2015. Students will work on 1 scenario as a team and 1 scenario individually.
- Grades 5 - 8 will meet on Mondays 4:30 to 5:15 PM (we may open up Saturdays from 11 - 11:45 PM if Monday session fills up)
- Grades 2 - 4 will meet on Tuesdays 4:30 to 5:15 PM (we may open up Saturdays from 12 - 12:45 PM if Monday session fills up)

Cost: $350 per student (for June through August - total 10 sessions) for Guests. Students of Eye Level of Centreville can attend at no additional cost as long as they are enrolled full time.

2. The competitive team aspect of this program is an all-year along program. Students will attend a 45-minute session per week and expect to spend about 30-minutes of homework time between sessions. The first session starts on 4 May 2015 and will continue throughout the year and prepare students for competitions in June 2016. Students will work in teams and will be given 4-5 different scenarios throughout the year including Scenario Writing.

Cost: $115 per student per month (4 sessions each month) for Guests. Students of Eye Level of Centreville can attend at no additional cost as long as they are enrolled full time.

Parents will be charged a Competition Registration Fee and will be responsible for all travel expenses to the competition. Competition related expenses are not included in the tuition cost.
