Westfield Summer Stage celebrates 16 years of summer musicals with the ever popular romantic comedy GREASE, which shimmies its way to the Westfield High School stage for five performances on July 22, 23, 29, and 30 at 7:30 PM and 2 PM, July 24. All performances are at Westfield High School.
Summer has come to an end and Rydell High School’s class of 1959 is ready to rule the school. Greaser Danny Zuko (Adam Lekang) and the new girl in town Sandy Dumbrowski (Rachel Cahoon) return from a sweet summer romance to the reality of peer pressure and social constraints of high school. While the T-Birds (Khalied Bashiri, John Henry Stamper, and Keegan Garant) focus on rebuilding the “new” car Kenickie (Zach Szmerekovsky) worked all summer to purchase, the Pink Ladies (Becca Gustafson, Ruby Tippl, and Lily Whitman) led by Rizzo (Molly VanTrees) try to decide if Sandy fits in with the gang. With book, music and lyrics by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, GREASE features classic hits such as “We Go Together”, “Summer Nights”, and “You’re the One That I Want” that are sure to have the audience singing along.
The show features more than 60 students ranging from rising 8th graders to the class of 2016, who represent several local schools. Working hard behind the scenes of GREASE are Director Rachel Harrington Johnson, Musical Director Melanie Robison and Choreographers Karin Hoelzl and Nora Winsler.
