Southwestern Youth Sports Association: Meet SYA Commissioner Bob Woodruff

Bob received the SYA Executive Board of Directors Award in 2014 for his outstanding service to SYA.

Bob has been involved with SYA since moving to the area in 1998. Bob's volunteer work in SYA Little League, SYA Mets, and SYA Diamond Sports began with coaching his 3 kids in baseball and softball. Through the years, Bob's focus has been to support and help grow the sports of baseball and softball at various levels, both house and travel. Currently, Bob serves as the Commissioner of SYA Diamond Sports, which includes Babe Ruth, Little League, Mets Travel Baseball, and Xplosion Travel Softball programs. He's been a member of the Little League Board of Directors since the early 2000s. Bob's been involved with Little League at the national, regional, and district levels, working to improve the organizational aspects and growth of the games. 

In addition to working with SYA, Bob has also served as an assistant baseball coach at Thomas Jefferson and Westfield high schools, and for independent travel baseball teams and organizations. His current mission is to bring back American Legion Baseball to Centreville Post 1995. Having grown up in a baseball family and getting the opportunity to play with his dad, Bob's love for the game grew from his playing days in high school and college to adult baseball on the fields of New Jersey. Bob's passion for baseball has been a source of enjoyment, excitement, and pride for his wife and family for many years.
