SYA Youth Rugby - non-contact summer sport for kids 5-13
Join our summer program for boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 13. Rugby is the fastest growing team sport in the United States.
The SYA Youth Rugby Program fields co-ed teams that play two-hand touch, sevens-style rugby during early to mid-summer for kids between the ages of 5 and 13. Two-hand touch Rugby is a fun and exciting form of non-contact rugby that requires no prior knowledge of the game and minimal equipment. Played during the summer (after Spring soccer and before Fall football), players and parents are introduced to the game of Seven’s that follow “two-hand touch” rules instead of tackle. Making its debut in the 2016 Summer Olympics, Rugby Seven’s is a high-scoring, team game that emphasizes teamwork and communication and relies upon communication and mutual support.

This is an exciting opportunity for boys and girls to get outside and stay active, safely be exposed to a seriously fun sport in a competitive environment, develop abilities that will carry over to Fall/Spring sports, and develop positive character attributes. Rugby emphasizes technique and teamwork over power and individual abilities.
Practices, held twice/week in the evenings (Tue&Thu), start the first week of June and games are Saturday mornings through the end of July. Registration for the summer season is closing soon so don’t delay! We’re looking for players (aged 5-13), volunteers, trainers and coaches of all ages, and sponsors looking to give back to the community.
