3 Brands That Won Valentine's Day
Thanks to the fact that Valentine's Day fell on a Sunday this year (and a long weekend!) the lead up to the 14th was louder than ever...

Numerous companies brands hopped on board the Hallmark Holiday bandwagon to offer advice, services, and revamped products to correspond with themes related to Valentine’s Day.
Companies like StitchFix and RueLaLa offered date night outfits hand-picked for the customer. Sole Society was sending emails months ahead of time reminding ladies to buy red hot shoes for V-day. And even brands like Pottery Barn were offering discounts with the message “Share the Love”. But of all the organizations who newsjacked the holiday successfully, there were a few clear winners.
First, Treetopia put together an adorable mash up of engagement scenes from romantic comedies. It is the perfect blend of sappy sweet and humorous and definitely makes you want to re-watch those gems that are featured in the supercut.

Soothe, the at-home massage app, did a great job of leveraging the day in an authentic and encouraging way to gain new customers. Though they typically offer traditional single masseuse massages, they expanded to offering couples massages in honor of Valentine’s Day. Nothing says romance like getting rubbed down by professionals in your own home with your sweetie by your side.
And finally, OpenTable, the dining reservation service, did a great job of not only gently reminding people that the date was fast approaching, but they directed diners towards restaurants in their area that still had space left last-minute. This must have helped out more than one disorganized dude who was scrambling for something last minute.

Ultimately, these three brands did a great job of leveraging the holiday in a natural way that related to their brand and helped them stay top of mind for the consumer. As we approach St. Patrick’s Day, there will likely be plenty more brands that dive into the marketing fray.
