Alexandria Man, 30, Charged with Bringing a Gun on School Property

A 30-year-old man was arrested this weekend and charged with brandishing a firearm on school property following a dispute over how closely two cars were parked, according to the Arlington County Police Department.

Mohamed Sesay, 30, was released from Arlington County jail Tuesday on a $1,500 secured bond.

Two men were talking in a parking lot near Gunston Middle School shortly before 9:40 p.m. Saturday when Sesay approached to get in his vehicle, according to police.

He told one of the men that their car was parked too close to his, police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said.

"The went back and forth. Words were exchanged. They had a verbal spat about being parked too close together," Sternbeck said.

Sesay then went to the passenger side of his vehicle and got what was believed to be a handgun, Sternbeck said.

"He approaches him, and he utters something along the lines of, 'Try me now' or 'What do you have to say now?' " Sternbeck said.

The victim feared for his life, backed away and got in his vehicle to flee and call 911, Sternbeck said.

Police arrived and canvassed the area. Sesay's car was found in an adjacent lot and Sesay was located at a soccer game.

Sesay's weapon turned out to be a BB gun, Sternbeck said. Such guns look like handguns but usually have a colored tip to distinguish them. Sesay used a black marker or tape to cover the highlighted area and make it look more like a handgun, Sternbeck said.
