Enter The Art Institutes Storytellers Photography Competition at The Art Institute of Washington

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but for contestants in The Art Institutes 2012 Storytellers Photography Contest, a picture can be worth much more.  The Art Institute of Washington, a branch of The Art Institute of Atlanta, is pleased to announce its search for the next great storyteller. Enter today by submitting six original photographs that tell a visual story and showcase your creativity and unique point of view.  You could earn up to a $40,000 tuition scholarship to The Art Institute of Washington.

Along with the photos, entrants must submit a 500-800 word artist statement describing the entry and a high school transcript or proof of high school graduation demonstrating a GPA of 2.0 or higher.  For complete entry details, please visit http://artinstitutes.edu/photocompetition.

The Art Institutes 2012 Storytellers Photography Competition offers separate categories for high school seniors graduating in 2012 and high school graduates.  The grand prize winner in the high school senior category earns up to a $40,000 tuition scholarship, and the grand prize winner in the high school graduate category earns a $10,000 tuition scholarship to one of 39 participating Art Institutes across the country.

“The Storytellers Photography Competition is a wonderful opportunity for tomorrow’s photographers to share their vision with the world and showcase their talents on both a local and national stage.   We look forward to assisting these students as they pursue an education in photography,” said Todd Cunningham, President of The Art Institute of Washington.

Submissions are initially judged at the local level, with one finalist from each participating school advancing to the national level.  The deadline for entries into the competition is March 2, 2012.
