Arlington Fire Injures Two Children; Family Dog Killed

The fire was reported on the 2000 block of South Lowell Street.

A fire on the 2000 block of South Lowell Street Thursday morning sent two children to the hospital, according to Arlington County Fire Department officials.

The fire was reported at 7:36 a.m. and was extinguished about 15 minutes later, according to Arlington County's Chief Fire Marshall Dan Fitch.

"On arrival, they had fire showing from all the windows on the front of the house," Fitch said.

Two adults and two children were in the home at the time. The adults were uninjured, but the two children had to be taken to an area hospital to be treated for what Fitch described as injuries that were not life threatening.

A family dog also died in the fire, Fitch said.
