Arlington Police Probe Bank Robberies in Rosslyn, Columbia Pike

Spokeswoman: Investigators have not said the two are related.

Arlington County police are investigating a pair of bank robberies that occurred in the last week.

Investigators at this point have not said the two are connected.

The first happened Friday, Dec. 9, at a on North Moore Street in Rosslyn. A man approached a teller, announced the robbery and demanded money. He fled with an unspecified amount of cash.

That suspect has been described as a white or Hispanic man in his mid-20s, about 5-feet-5-inches to 5-feet-6-inches tall with a thin build.

The second robbery happened Thursday at Bank of America, 3401 Columbia Pike. In this instance, a man in a black hooded jacket implied he had a weapon and demanded money. He fled with an unspecified amount of cash.

This suspect has been described as a white Hispanic man in this early 20s, about 5-feet-7-inches to 5-feet-8-inches tall with a medium build.

"Many types of crimes tend to increase around the holidays," said Detective Crystal Nosal. "We had a higher than normal number of bank robberies this year because . Normally, we average around six."

Nosal would not say how much money was taken in the robberies.
