Arlington Woman Wakes to Find Strange Man in Bedroom

Police are investigating the reported unlawful entry in the Columbia Heights West neighborhood.

An Arlington woman woke up at about 5 a.m. Saturday to find an unknown man standing in her upstairs bedroom.

As she started questioning the man -- asking who he was and what he was doing in her home -- he backed out of her bedroom, said Arlington police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck.

The man continued down the stairs and ran out the back door, according to police.

Investigators haven't said whether the woman lives alone or if any evidence has been found of the man watching the home beforehand, Sternbeck said.
