The Falls Church Farmers Market is held every Saturday year round just in the city hall parking lot (300 Park Ave). Just across the border from Arlington’s East Falls Church neighborhood- the market is a brisk but pretty walk from the East Falls Church metro station and parking is plentiful in the area.
The market has everything that “farm to table” foodie would desire including the coveted Morel mushrooms! However, in order to snag Morels before they sell out, you need to get there as soon as the market opens at 8 am (and sometime before hand as the line can be very long when the market opens). Not to fret- the mushroom guy has many more mushrooms than just Morel and if you don’t know much about mushrooms, this vendor is your guy. If you have a dish in mind you would like to make and need mushroom suggestions, he will be happy to sell you the perfect mushroom to accompany the dish.

There are a variety of other vendors, such as Beanetics, a local coffee roaster. They usually have a variety of coffees brewed fresh from their Columbia Pike location that they bring to the market to serve as samples. Once you try the Pearberry coffee, you’ll want to buy a whole bag to take home to brew!
Fresh fruits and vegetables will be more readily available towards May and through September, keep an eye out in the coming months for fresh strawberries that will knock your socks off. Right now the root vegetables are in season, and they are so good--try fresh carrots as an addition in soup.

If you’re a fan of piquant, spicy, and delicious hot sauce, then you will adore Oh Mercy! The vendor describes herself as a “French/West African” in style and the mix of cultures is evident in the hot sauce. The flavor is unique and well, HOT! It’s the kind of spicy that doesn’t hit you right away—the spiciness creeps up on your taste buds and envelopes them in a spice explosion. She always has samples set up for you to try-- don’t be shy and help yourself and you’ll fall in love with the hot sauce.
Clear Springs Creamery is another stop you’ll have to make. The cheese is fresh and buttery, so very creamy. And, speaking of “creamy”, try the cream! If you have any interest in making your own butter, this is the best cream to use. Too much work? Use the cream in your coffee; it’s easy and delicious. Maybe not good for you, but hey, it’s the weekend; it’s time to splurge!
