Six Tips to Help Your Wedding Day Go Smoother
Your big day has finally arrived, learn a few tips to help your day run smoothly.
Did he remember to bring the marriage license? Will the Florist remember the candles that you decided to add to your centerpieces at the last minute? Will the DJ remember to PLEASE not play the chicken dance? What if the Baker doesn't show? Your wedding day has finally arrived and you are a big ball of nerves with 20,000 things running through your mind. Rather than worry, relax and enjoy your day. I know it's easier said than done so here are a few tips to help you bask in the day of starting a new chapter in your life.
- Get a good nights rest. I know that you may have butterflies from the excitement, but try to get some sleep the night before. You will be glad you did!
- Eat. Some Brides are so busy in the whirlwind of the day, they forget to eat or are too nervous to eat. Make sure that you have a meal and snacks that are full of protein. Stay away from sugar if you can; it's a quick high but as we all know, what goes up, must come down.
- Breathe. Take a few deep breaths throughout the day. It will help to calm you and makes you take a moment to gain a little perspective.
- Designate someone as the go-to person for the day. Hire a day-of coordinator, ask Aunt Ruth or cousin Jane. Regardless of who it is, make sure that you have someone whom you trust that can watch over things and be the go to person for your vendors and anyone else that will need assistance and guidance.
- Give up your cell phone. Yep. That's right. I said it. Give up your cell phone. Give it to your MOH, BM, your Mom, whomever it may be, but give it to someone. You are the Bride and you should not have to deal with putting out fires, dealing with caddy Bridesmaids or issues with vendors. This is where #3 really comes in handy. If you need to make a phone call, use someone else's phone. If you just can't manage to be without your phone in your presence (I understand, I have this same disease too), then give it to someone that will be with you all day.
- Don't sweat the small stuff. Should an issue arise, decide now, that guess what? It's okay. Your attitude and how you choose to deal with things will make a HUGE difference. Remember what the day is really about. So if the the alter arrangement was supposed to be in a clear glass vase and it's in a blue one, that's okay. If your bridesmaids were supposed to wear their hair up and one of them decided to wear their hair down, that's okay too and guess what? At the end of the day, no matter what the mishap is, you will still come out the winner because you were lucky enough to find the person you want to spend the rest of your life with and marry him.
