D.C. Police Funeral Procession Speeds Across Arlington
395 Northbound shuts down as 10 minute long procession heads toward the district and back again
The funeral procession for D.C. police officer Paul Dittamo closed the northbound lanes of 395 Thursday for roughly 30 minutes as it made its way from St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Lake Ridge, VA towards the district.
Officer Dittamo died on Oct. 30 on duty after the car he was driving slammed into a utility pole, according to police.
In Shirlington, a short line of cars waited at the northbound entrance ramp to the highway by South Glebe Rd. An Arlington police officer holding traffic saluted the procession in the pouring rain as the procession of police, fire and ambulance vehicles from various municipalities rocketed by for 10 minutes between 1pm and 1:30.
