How to Register to Vote in Arlington County

If you haven’t yet registered to vote, the deadline is just a few weeks away.

Tuesday is National Voter Registration Day, and thousands of local, state and national organizations are mobilizing to make sure millions of people don’t miss the chance to cast their vote in this year’s elections.

An estimated 6 million people didn’t vote in the 2008 elections because they either did not know how to register or because they missed the voter registration deadline.

The voter registration deadline in Virginia this year is Oct. 15. The Arlington County Voter Registration Office website has a lot of useful information about registering to vote, absentee voting and the November election.

Here’s information on how Arlington residents can register in time for the Nov. 6 elections:

• Fill out a voter registration form in person at the Arlington County Office of Voter Registration, which is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays with extended hours as the November elections approach. The office is at 2100 Clarendon Blvd. in Arlington's Courthouse community. Call 703-228-3456 for more information. 
• Download a voter registration form from the county website, fill it out and return it in person or by mail to General Registrar, 2100 Clarendon Blvd. Suite 320, Arlington, VA 22201.
• Absentee voting has already started.

If you aren't sure of the status of your voter registration, you can check it by going to the Virginia Board of Elections voter registration status service site.

If you moved from the address on record or changed your name, your voter registration may not be valid.
