'Minor Derailment' Reported at Rosslyn Station

Update (12:50 a.m. Wednesday): Metro issued a statement that the Orange Line should run normally through the morning commute.

Blue Line service has not yet been restored.

Metro will issue another update on the Blue Line at about 4:30 a.m.

Update (10:49 p.m.): Metro issued a release stating Blue and Orange line trains are operating "on or close to" a late-night schedule, though it remains unclear whether this will impact the morning commute.

Approximately 1,000 people were aboard the train that derailed, according to Metro.

Update (9:24 p.m.): Metro is encouraging riders to consider using the Yellow Line to travel between Virginia and Washington.

The train involved in the derailment consisted of six cars, according to an update from WMATA. Four were on the platform at the time of the incident.

All passengers of the effected train were evacuated in less than 10 minutes, according to WMATA.

Original post: Blue and Orange lines are experiencing delays following a "minor derailment," according to the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, or WMATA.

Shortly after 7 p.m., one set of wheels on a Blue Line train heading toward Franconia-Springfield derailed outside of Rosslyn Station, according to a WMATA news release.

No injures have been reported. The train was evacuated safely, the news release states.

The derailment has caused Orange Line trains to single-track between Foggy Bottom and Clarendon. Blue Line trains are single-tracking between Foggy Bottom and Arlington National Cemetery.

Both lines are experiencing delays.
