Police: Woman Dies After Jump from Bridge on Columbia Pike

Authorities say a woman committed suicide Tuesday afternoon by jumping from a bridge on Columbia Pike that passes over Four Mile Run.

Arlington County Police were called to the scene near the 7900 block of Columbia Pike just after noon, spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said.

A portion of the bridge was closed to pedestrians while authorities investigated.

Bystanders who were looking on as police investigated declined to comment.
