Police: Man Strangles Ex-Girlfriend, Steals Dog in Clarendon
Victim was walking alone late at night, according to police.

A 24-year-old Hyattsville, Md., man has been accused of strangling his ex-girlfriend and stealing her dog in the Clarendon-Courthouse neighborhood of Arlington.
Jonathan Jimenez has been arrested and charged with strangulation, attempted malicious wounding, grand larceny, and domestic assault and battery, according to the Arlington County Police Department. He is being held without bond.
At about 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, a woman reportedly was walking her dog, a Chihuahua, in the 2400 block of North 11th Street near Rocky Run Park.

"He approaches her on foot, they exchange some words, and he grabs her by the neck," Arlington County Police Department spokesman Dustin Sternbeck told Patch.
Jimenez reportedly knew the woman from a past relationship, Sternbeck said.

The man ran away with the woman's cell phone and the dog. He was later apprehended by police.
