'Rip' Sullivan Wins Special Election; Will Represent 48th District in Virginia House of Delegates
Sullivan, of McLean, gets 62.21 percent of vote.

Democrat R.C. ”Rip” Sullivan, Jr. won election Tuesday to Virginia’s House of Delegates, where he will represent the Commonwealth’s 48th District, which includes parts of Arlington and McLean.
Sullivan, of McLean, bested Republican David M. “Dave” Foster, getting 5,972 votes or 62.21 percent of the vote, according to the State Board of Elections. Foster received 3,720 votes in all.
In Arlington, Sullivan got 3,934 votes or 62.64 percent of the vote and in Fairfax County, he got 2,038 votes or 61.39 percent of the vote.

Sullivan has served on numerous local and statewide boards and commissions. Sullivan earned his law degree in 1987 from the University of Virginia, and is currently a partner at the law firm of Reed Smith.
Sullivan and his wife, Beth, have four children, all of whom attend or graduated from public schools in Northern Virginia.
