Rooftop Luau at Eventide, Restaurant Week Begins, Central Arlington History Tour and More

Five things for the week ahead in and around the Rosslyn-Ballston corridor.

Rooftop Luau and Pig-Out at Eventide Restaurant: Eventide Restaurant, 3165 Wilson Blvd., is hosting a Farewell to Summer Pig-Out starting at 1 p.m. Sunday. For $39, you get the all-you-can-eat buffet and a drink ticket good for two. The buffet will feature Hawaiian whole roasted pig, braised pulled chicken, octopus fritters, ceviche, coconut carrot salad, and more. More info here.

It's time for a delicious DC-area summer tradition:Ā Summer 2013 Restaurant WeekĀ starts Monday.Ā More than 200 restaurants in the greater Washington area are participating — including Lyon Hall, Liberty Tavern, Epic Smokehouse and Willow Restaurant and 13 others in Arlington. Participating restaurants will offer three-course meals for a set price — $20.13 for lunch or $35.13 for dinner.

Wearable Computing: The third and final session in the Venture Camp entrepreneurship series at George Mason's Arlington campus starts at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The theme: Wearable computing. This event is free. More info here.

Central Arlington History Tour: Tour the Clarendon, Ballston, Arlington Forest and Glen Carlyn neighborhoods starting at 9 a.m. SaturdayĀ with the Center Hiking Club. For $2, you'll get a 10- to 12-mile walking tour of historic points in central Arlington County.Ā More info here.

Heads up Mount Vernon Trail hikers, bikers and walkers.Ā NRG Energy willĀ perform maintenance on the Mount Vernon TrailĀ directly behind theĀ closedĀ GenOn plantĀ at 1400 Royal St. in Old Town Alexandria beginningĀ Monday and goingĀ through Sept. 6. If possible, pedestrians, runners and bicyclists should use the alternate trail located in front of the plant that runs along Bashford LaneĀ andĀ East Abingdon and meets the Mount Vernon Trail north of the plant.
