Sen. Kaine to Campaign for 'Rip' Sullivan Prior to Special Election

Debate between Sullivan and David Foster is Monday night at George Mason's Arlington campus. Special election is Aug. 19.

On Sunday, Aug. 17, just 48 hours before residents in Virginia’s 48th House of Delegates District head to precincts for a special election, Sen. Tim Kaine will join Democratic nominee Richard C. ”Rip” Sullivan in some last-minute campaigning, Sullivan’s campaign announced Monday.

Sullivan is running against Republican David Foster. Foster and Sullivan will meet in a debate today (Monday) at 7 p.m. on George Mason University’s Arlington campus at Founders Hall, 3351 Fairfax Dr. The debate, co-hosted with Mason by the League of Women Voters’ Arlington and Fairfax chapters, ends at 8:30 p.m.; doors open at 6 p.m. Admission is free, but audience members must register here.

The special election is being held because longtime Del. Bob Brink, a Democratic, resigned to accept a position with Gov. Terry McAuliffe’s administration.
