Sun Gazette: Favola Has Big Lead in Fundraising Contest

Three state senators, including outgoing Sen. Mary Margaret Whipple, supporting Favola's legislative bid.

Arlington County Board Member Barbara Favola raised more than $130,000 in the second quarter of 2011 for her state Senate bid, nearly twice as much as rival Jaime Areizaga-Soto, according to the Sun Gazette.

Favola ended the quarter with almost $113,000 on hand, while Areizaga-Soto had about $41,000.

Favola's contributions were bolstered by state Senate Majority Leader Dick Saslaw, who gave her $17,000, and outgoing state Sen. Mary Margaret Whipple, who currently holds the seat Favola has her eyes on. Whipple contributed $15,000, the Sun Gazette reported.
