WaPo Endorses Favola, Others in Northern Virginia Primaries

The Washington Post has announced endorsements in three Northern Virginia Democratic primary races, including Barbara Favola for state Senate.

Favola, an Arlington County Board member, faces JAG attorney Jaime Areizaga-Soto in a race that has gotten more than a little testy. The winner will face Republican Caren Merrick in November for the seat retiring Sen. Mary Margaret Whipple is leaving vacant. 

"While Mr. Areizaga-Soto’s campaign has stressed hot-button and partisan social issues, Ms. Favola stands a better chance of making headway on education, transportation and other areas critical to her constituents," the Post states.

The newspaper also endorsed Rob Krupicka in the three-way 30th Senate District race, and Alfonso Lopez for House District 49, which includes part of south Arlington.
