The Life of Jesus (as)

While many people are familiar with Jesus’ (peace be upon him) life up until his crucifixion, there is more to his story than meets the eye. In various cultures and religions, people believe that Jesus died on the cross. However, in Islam Ahmadiyyat, we hold a different perspective and do not share the same opinion on this matter.

Many Ahmadi Muslims believe that Jesus did not die on the cross. However, if Jesus had been placed on the cross, how could he have survived? Our Almighty God would not allow His prophets to return to Him without completing their missions. Therefore, even though Jesus was placed on the cross, he survived but was severely weakened. Just like the miracles given to Moses, God performed a miracle for Jesus. Because he was extremely weak, he became unconscious and was placed in a tomb. Thankfully, his followers later discovered that he had not died and treated his wounds, which eventually healed. After recovering, he embarked on a journey to India in search of the lost tribes of Israel.

When Jesus began his journey to find the lost tribes of Israel, he had to remain cautious due to the intense persecution he faced. After discreetly leaving the region, he traveled through the Middle East while continuing his search. Many sources suggest that he passed through modern-day Syria, Persia, Afghanistan, and the northern parts of the Indian subcontinent. Eventually, he reached Kashmir, India, where many believe the people had Israelite origins.

When Jesus arrived in Kashmir, he began teaching and healing people. He continued spreading his message of monotheism, the belief in one God. There are even old stories in Kashmir that mention a holy man who seems similar to Jesus. Jesus lived a simple and spiritual life as a prophet, and completed the mission he was sent to fulfill.

As mentioned earlier, Jesus did not die on the cross. In Ahmadiyyat, it is believed that Jesus died a natural death. Unlike other sects of Islam, we do not believe that he was physically raised to heaven. Instead, it is believed that he was buried in Srinagar, Kashmir, at a site known as Roza Bal.

The Ahmadiyya perspective on the life of Jesus is supported through various religious writings and interpretations. It is based on the teachings of the Holy Qur’an, the sayings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and the writings of the Promised Messiah, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad.
