It’s time to break out your favorite flip flops, beachwear and sunglasses as 300+ of NOVA’s coolest make their icy dip at the 14th annual NOVA Polar Plunge Winter Fest. Plungers will “bear all” in support of Special Olympics Virginia’s 30,000+ athletes with and without disabilities this Saturday, Feb. 27 at Tim’s Rivershore Restaurant & Crabhouse in Dumfries, VA.
The Plunge, presented by the Prince William County Police Department and Tim’s Rivershore Restaurant & Crabouse, kicks off Saturday at 10 am. Plunging into the Potomac will begin at 2:30 pm, with Special Olympics Virginia athletes leading the way. Other plungers include members of the Prince William County Police Department, the Prince William County Sheriff’s Office, and the Fairfax County Police Department

It’s $100 to Plunge (and the more you raise, the cooler the sunglasses!), but cheering on the beach is free, and tons of fun. In addition to the plunge, the Winter Fest will include an all day party at Tim’s Rivershore Restaurant & Crabhouse, live music and the annual costume contest!

This event is one of four Polar Plunge Winter Fests in Virginia. The largest – now in its 24th year- took place in Virginia Beach Feb. 5-6 and raised $1,040,000. Plunges also will take place this Saturday, Feb. 27, in Richmond at the Shops at Willow Lawn, and in Southwest Virginia at Bisset Park in the New River Valley.
