Polls Closed, Results Beginning Soon

The voting polls closed at 7 p.m.

Voting turnout was on Tuesday, and the only hiccups seemed to be people going to the wrong polling places because of redistricting.

Election officials said they were expecting to see about 25 to 30 percent turnout by the end of the day. As of 3:30, only 464 voters had shown up in the Saunders precinct, 13 percent of registered voters.

Election Officer Mary Stowe said that many voters had been confused about their polling location. "A lot of people have been coming to the wrong precinct," she said.

By 4:00, Bel Air precinct had 17 percent of registered voters turn out. Neabsco District Supervisor John Jenkins, who was running unopposed, stood outside the polling location thanking people for voting.
