Primaries Continue Despite Earthquake
Polls in the Republican primaries are open until 7 p.m.

The Republican primary elections on Tuesday had a low turnout even before the just before 2:00 p.m.
Only three precincts in Dale City had elections on Tuesday. Saunders, Hylton and Lodge had a Republican primary for Coles District Supervisor between incumbent Marty Nohe and challenger Bob Pugh. Parts of Hylton and Lodge were also voting in the State Senate 36th district race between Tito Munoz and Jeff Frederick.
By 2:00, the Saunders precinct had 53 voters out of 3,389 total registered voters. Hylton had 105 out of 3,815 registered voters by 2:30, and by 2:45, Lodge had a turnout of 78 out of 3,415 registered voters.

Despite the record earthquake that hit the area just before 2:00 p.m., polls remained open, but the hours will not be extended. Residents can vote until 7:00 p.m.
