$1M Powerball Ticket Sold To Alexandria Man
The Alexandria man didn't check his Powerball tickets until a week after the big jackpot drawing. Then he won $1 million.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—A common saying is "good things come to those who wait." And it worked out this way for an Alexandria man in the Powerball drawing.
Arthur Martin had bought a Powerball ticket but didn't check the numbers during the Aug. 23 drawing. More than a week later, he discovered his ticket matched the first five Powerball numbers, and he won a $1 million prize.
Martin, a building engineer, bought four Powerball tickets before the drawing after seeing that the top jackpot rose to $700 million. He doesn't play that often and usually doesn't check the tickets until a week or two later. But it turned out that his was the only ticket in Virginia that matched the first five Powerball numbers.
