2018 Living Legends Of Alexandria Announced
The nonprofit project honors people making history in Alexandria. Here are the 2018 Living Legends.
ALEXANDRIA, VA—Living Legends of Alexandria has announced the selections of the 2018 Living Legends.
Inductees were nominated by community members late last year, chosen for improving the quality of life in Alexandria. They are recognized for their part in creating or redeveloping something or contributing substantially to the city over a period of time.

Charlie Euripides for his time and efforts to support veterans organizations and providing employment and guidance to young immigrants.
Lori Morris for being a founding member ACT’s board of directors and being involved in the creation of Spring2Action, and also committed significant resources to programs for Alexandria’s low-income children.
Ann and Rick Dorman for applying their non-profit consulting and event planning expertise to revitalize First Night Alexandria beginning in 2001, resulting in the participation by thousands of visitors and hundreds of performers.
Sherry Wilson Brown for her selfless advocacy to bring local art to public spaces in leadership positions with, Alexandria Arts Forum, Alexandria Performing Arts Association, and MetroStage, the Alexandria Arts Festival, and leading Agenda:Alexandria.
Gwendolyn Hubbard Lewis for creating and leading programs that mentor middle school children and engages parents in their children's education.
Jason Ellis for founding a nonprofit that created a series of original musicals as an arts mechanism to educate, enrich and empower the lives of low-income youth.
Marion Moon for creating educational and personal growth opportunities that have helped countless young underserved young people of Alexandria.
Florence King for educating and guiding low income residents of Alexandria on how to escape debt, regain credit, and develop financial literacy.
The public is invited to Living Legends’ 11th Annual Meet the Legends Reception on Thursday, March 15 at the Northern Virginia Community College’s new Center for Design, Media and the Arts building. The 2018 Living Legends will be formally recognized and introduced to the public.

Following a year-long exhibit in the Vola Lawson Lobby of City Hall, the photographic and written documentation of these (and all) Legends is transferred to the Office of Historic Alexandria, which takes possession of them as an archive for future generations.
Living Legend Nina Tisara started the organization in 2006 to document how people have contributed to Alexandria over time. For more information, visit alexandrialegends.org.
