3 Hospitalized After Overnight Alexandria Fire
Firefighters responded to a two-alarm fire in an Alexandria high rise early Monday morning.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Three people were hospitalized after a fire broke out at an Alexandria high rise early Monday morning, the fire department says.
Shortly after 2 a.m., firefighters responded to the 5000 block of Holmes Run Parkway with smoke showing from the second floor. Residents had already been evacuating when firefighters arrived. Units rescued numerous people using ladders.
Multiple residents were evacuated for smoke inhalation, and three injured people went to the hospital. Two of the injuries were described as stress related and chest pain, while the third wanted to be evaluated. Two firefighters were treated on scene and are expected to be ok.

The fire went to two alarms. Fire investigators say the cause was improperly discarded smoking materials.
