Apple Explores NoVA Sites For New Campus: Report
Sources say state officials proposed several NoVA sites for a new Apple campus.

As Amazon considers Northern Virginia for its second headquarters with up to 50,000 potential jobs, another major company is looking at expansion in the area. Apple has been considering several NoVA locations for a new 20,000-employee campus, The Washington Post reports.
Officials under Gov. Ralph Northam's administration proposed sites in Alexandria including in the Eisenhower Avenue area, the Scotts Run development in Tysons, sites in Crystal City, and private land near the Center for Innovative Technology in Loudoun County.
Unlike Amazon's open search process encouraging jurisdictions to apply, Apple's search process for a new campus has been more so out of the public eye. In January, Apple said it would invest $30 billion and add 20,000 jobs in the U.S. over the next five years, which would mostly come from a new campus.

Apple CEO Tim Cook told investors in a phone call the company has narrowed down the list of potential contenders. Spokespersons for Apple would not comment to The Post on whether Northern Virginia is a contender for the expansion.
The location of the new campus is expected to be announced later this year. Meanwhile, Seattle-based Amazon has finished visiting the top 20 locations for HQ2, NBC News reports. The visit to potential sites in Virginia and DC came in late February. These locations included Alexandria, Arlington, and the Center for Innovative Technology campus in Herndon, as well as DC locations behind Union Station, in the U Street corridor, along the Anacostia River in Southeast, and in the RFK Stadium area.
