Bar Crawl Benefits Home Repairs for the Needy

ALEXANDRIA VA -- People in the Alexandria area can drink for a good cause Saturday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at a Del Ray pub crawl benefiting home rebuilding for the needy.

Rebuilding Together Alexandria works to repair homes for community members in need and revitalize public spaces and schools in low-income neighborhoods. Projects benefit the elderly, military veterans, people with disabilities and families with children. Money raised will help the group rebuild homes on National Rebuilding Day April 29.

Sponsored by the Del Ray Business Association, the pub crawl features five participating restaurants along Mount Vernon Avenue. The restaurants will hold specific hours for discounts on beer and other drinks on Saturday.

• Evening Star Cafe, 2000 Mt Vernon Ave, Alexandria, VA 3 p.m. to 3:50 p.m. (Second point for check in)
• Kaizen Tavern, 1909 Mt Vernon Ave, Alexandria, VA 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• Del Ray Pizzeria, 2218 Mt Vernon Ave, Alexandria, VA 4:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
• St. Elmo's Coffee Pub, 2300 Mt Vernon Ave, Alexandria, VA 5 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
• Pork Barrel BBQ, 2312 Mt Vernon Ave, Alexandria, VA 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

To participate, register online. Wristbands for the event are $10 and can be picked up during either of the first two bars' pub crawl hours. The first 100 to arrive will receive a free giveaway. Cash trivia and raffle games will be available.
