The nursing lounge? It’s actually a large stall inside of a bathroom.

The stall-turned-lounge was called out by mom Leslie Morgan Steiner who is also an author and speaker. She posted a photo of the stall with the “Nursing Lounge” plaque on her Facebook page:

She wrote: “Seriously? This is where Reagan National Airport admin expect moms to feed their babies? Not good enough.”

The photo sparked comments, including:

Richard: “Hard for me to believe that we are still so darned backward in this country. Granted, my wife and I didn’t travel when my daughter was a baby, but she was breastfed until she was two years old. Most importantly, she was never, ever sick with a childhood illness until she stopped. We should be encouraging women to breastfeed and provide a decent place for them to do it. Adults don’t eat in bathrooms, why should babies???????”

Gillian: “This is ridiculous. Who ever decided this was okay should be sentenced to a life time of eating their meals in a public bathroom.”

The airport now seems to be scrambling to rectify the situation, issuing this statement:

“We recognize that the location of the nursing lounge is not ideal. We are working with our teams to find a better solution to accommodate nursing mothers within the limited available space at Reagan National Airport.”
