Connectivity and Our Commute

With the new U.S. Census data showing DC has the second worst commute in the country, it's important to look at alternatives like broadband connectivity to avoid being stuck in traffic.

As Rachel Leonard reported this week in Del Ray Patch, new U.S. Census data shows that the DC region now has the dubious distinction of having the second-worst commute in our nation.

All this traffic and congestion not only costs us time and money, but has detrimental environmental effects as well. There are alternatives, however,  with one option being the Internet and mobile broadband connectivity, which enables telecommuting as well as the ability to attend classes, shops, banks and take care of other needs, all online, via a laptop, tablet or smartphone.

A recent Pew Research study showed that half of all U.S. adults now own a smartphone or tablet. These mobile technologies, when connected to the Internet via a 4G LTE mobile broadband connection, can be a lifeline and make work or errands something you do, not someplace you go, saving time and money and helping reduce harmful vehicle emissions.

Verizon Wireless continues to expand our 4G LTE mobile broadband network which has been live in the greater DC region since December 2010. Many more cities beyond the 480 currently covered will come online this year as we complete our nationwide build out in 2013. We’re committed to delivering mobile broadband solutions to help meet our daily life and work needs.
