Help Center for Alexandria’s Children Strengthen Homeless Families through Play
ACTion Alexandria has teamed up with Center for Alexandria's Children to assemble attachment kits to ensure healthy childhood development and parent-child relationships for local homeless families.
Play is a one parent-one child connection that often gets lost when families are under stress, but it's crucial in the development of healthy parent-child attachment. When children experience delight with their parents, it not only strengthens relationships but reduces the overwhelming stress and instability homeless families experience.
Just five minutes a day of active engagement between children and caregivers in struggling families can reduce oppositional behavior by 50 percent.
That's why we're helping the CAC assemble "attachment kits" full of books, educational games and toys that will help families transition out of homelessness closer, stronger and ready to take on the world!
