The Big Flea is Nearly Here!

The MV Big Flea is an annual flea market at the Mount Vernon Recreation Center on May 4 that raises money for the Mount Vernon Community School PTA. In the run-up to the big event, we collect donations at our storefront space at 3815 Mount Vernon Ave., near the old CVS in the MOM's Organic Market shopping center. 

We also sell stuff during our weekly Shop N Drops, which occur every Saturday from 2-4 p.m. Our prices are reasonable and our staff is friendly. Come on down and see some of the cool stuff we've got before the general public gets their mitts on it on May.

Every year the Flea raffles off a classy used car. This year we've got a honey courtesy Jack Taylor Alexandria Toyota: a 2001 Avalon that's just gorgeous. Tickets for this head-turner will run you $10 apiece or $25 for three. 

And this year's Flea will feature something grand: An arts and crafts festival on the playing fields outside the community center. We're calling it Fleadom Plaza until someone comes up with a better name. If you'd like to get a table, hurry! 

Last year's Flea raised $25,111 for PTA programs. This year we'd like to do at least that much. Your donations and purchases help a lot of kids in this neighborhood. We'll update here on Patch as well as on our Facebook page and our blog.
