Celebrity Chef to Sign Books at Giant Grand Opening

Celebrity chef Robert Irvine will be signing his book “Fit Fuel,” at a “meet and greet” Friday, Sept. 4 at the opening of the new Giant store Potomac Yard.

The new Giant, located at 621 East Glebe Road in Alexandria, will replace the nearby Giant store at 425 East Monroe Ave. store, which will close Thursday, Sept. 3 at 6 p.m., according to Giant.

Doors will open at 6 a.m. for the opening of the new store Friday, Sept. 4; Irvine will meet with store customers from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.

Irvine is the author of “Fit Fuel: A Chef’s Guide to Eating Well, Getting Fit and Living Your Best Life” and has started a food line, Robert Irvine Foods, launched exclusively at Giant.

He’s best known as the host of one of Food Network’s highest-rated shows, Restaurant: Impossible.

Irvine and Giant recently announced their partnership, with the grocery chain featuring cuisine from Irvine’s food line, including all-natural crab cakes and reduced-calorie cheesecakes. Samples from the food line will be shared at the grand opening of the new Giant store.

“Building this company and launching these products is one of the most important projects of my career to-date,” said Irvine, in a news release.

“It allows me to finally share some of my favorite foods with a healthier approach,” he said. “These foods are perfect for busy families across the country who strive to improve their diet, but lack the time or resources to do it on their own.”

Irvine started the company last year with the goal to recreate some of his most popular, quick-and-easy meals with full family appeal by using healthier ingredients and without compromising taste, he said.

Additional products offered by the company include ultra thin multigrain pizzas, oven-roasted wings with signature sauces, and the Chef’s FIT Crunch protein bars. These products, as well as other products currently in development, will be available at Giant Food and eventually rolled out to other retail locations nationally.
