ALEXANDRIA, VA -- The City of Alexandria continues to work to clear City streets Monday after a monster snowstorm walloped the area with about 2 feet of snow.

“...we’re planning to hit every street between today [Monday] and tomorrow,” City spokesman Craig Fifer said in an email.

The City’s Web site features “SnowReport,” which is intended to take reports of streets that have been missed after the applicable level (primary, secondary, residential) has been completed.

It does not take reports for levels not yet completed, the City notes.

As of Monday, Jan. 25, at 12:30 p.m.:

  • All primary routes are passable for emergency vehicles
  • 75 percent of secondary routes are passable
  • 25 percent of residential streets are passable

“Passable” streets may have only one lane and may not be cleared curb-to-curb, depending on volume of snow, parked vehicles, and equipment needs, the City notes.
